Chatsworth is our longest established chapter. In 2003 they celebrated their 20th Anniversary as the first group of ladies to bring the camaraderie and the sharing of their British heritage to Colorado by chartering a chapter of The Daughters of the British Empire (DBE). As part of the National Organization of DBE in the USA Chatsworth committed to supporting "The Cause" of DBE that is to support the British Home in Sierra Madre California and local charities in Colorado. To feature a contribution made by Chatsworth we should highlight the long hours and continuous commitment by many of our members when they spearheaded the production of The Bride's Book. This gargantuan effort resulted in a book full of wonderful stories of Colorado DBE members that came to the USA as war brides around 1945 or later. The book has been shared far and near … with friends and family here and throughout the British Commonwealth. This book became a source of funds that were given to charity. More recently the book has been recorded on to a CD that can be bought and added to the many treasures that we can pass along not only to our families but to the younger members that join DBE and are hungry to learn about the days when British women from around the Commonwealth came to America as young brides. Today Chatsworth is growing with the addition of several new members who have joined the charter members with enthusiasm and commitment to DBE and its Cause. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month to learn of the State and National news followed by social time and a lunch. Their Regent and a past State President is Norah Perotin. More information about any of the DBE chapters is available by calling the State Organizer, Chris Baumgartner at 303-683-6154 or email to ukcclark@hotmail.com
