We found a need to open a new weekday/daytime chapter to serve the Denver metro area. This chapter meets on the third Thursday of each month from 11 am to 1 pm. They meet for "elevenses". This is a name given to a common break in the day for many British Commonwealth workers and homemakers; a stop for tea and a snack.

After a discussion about what to name the new chapter Commonwealth Rose seemed a perfect opportunity to place the word COMMONWEALTH in to our Colorado chapter names to remind us that we are indeed a society of ladies with heritage reaching throughout the British Commonwealth and not just the United Kingdom.

Our hope is that this new chapter will be a constant reminder that altogether there is a total of 52 countries that comprise the British Commonwealth. Sixteen of these countries continue to recognize the current reigning monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain as their head of state; They are: The United Kingdom; Canada; Australia; New Zealand; Jamaica; Barbados; The Bahamas; Grenada; Papau New Guinea; Solomon Islands; Tuvulu; Saint Lucia; St Vincent and the Grenadines; Belize; Antiqua and Barbuda and St Christopher and Nevis.

The Regent of Commonwealth Rose is Margaret Paterson. If you are interested in visiting this new Chapter please call our State Organizer Chris Baumgartner at 303-683-6154 or email her at ukcclark@hotmail.com
