Founded in 1983, there are now 6 chapters in Colorado, with a total of 70 members statewide. We are planning an ambitions membership drive over the next two years and we hope to charter new Chapters in Colorado Springs and Grand Junction.
Each chapter has an elected group of officers headed by a Regent. The Chapters meet once a month usually in members' homes to socialize, share stories of their homeland or ancestry, hear the news from the National Headquarters, and from the Western District Home in Sierra Madre, California that we support both financially and through friendship with the residents. Our Chapters vary in size from 10 - 25 members. Throughout the year we have a number of statewide events where we enjoy the camaraderie and sharing of our culture. As one can imagine the serving of tea, sandwiches, and cakes has long been the staple food at most of our functions: A Strawberry Tea to celebrate the Queen's birthday, a gathering of members to recognize Founders Day (in honour of Mrs. Langstaff), or a regular monthly meeting at one of the local tea-shops or member's home. In October, for the past 19 years Colorado members have hosted, An Afternoon Victorian Tea and Bazaar, as our one fundraising event. The profit from this event is then distributed to the Western District Home named The British Home in California, Ltd. that is supported by our chapters in Colorado. Proceeds also support local charities of our choice. This event has become quite a tradition in the Denver metro area and we have guests who return year after year to enjoy this even.
